GCHF Awards Grant to Grayson County Emergency Management for Mobile Disaster Response Project

The Grayson County Healthcare Foundation (GCHF) is pleased to announce it has awarded a grant to Grayson County Emergency Management (GCEM). The grant, in the amount of $18,450, will be used to improve Mobile Disaster Response in Grayson County. The project includes renovating a trailer that was donated by the Kentucky Department of Public Health.

Workstations, storage cabinets, shelving units, and communication systems will be installed in the trailer to allow for response to local disasters, and it will also be stocked with triage supplies. GCEM Director Carey Sims said, “The trailer will be used for natural disaster response, search and rescue efforts, alternate care site command centers, and as a backup communication platform for dispatch, among other needs.” Sims also said the mobile disaster response trailer will be used to educate community members about disaster preparedness at local events.

“We are excited to partner with GCEM to support this project and help bring this piece of equipment to the community”, said Brittany Clemons, GCHF Executive Director. “It is critical that our community is able to quickly respond to disasters, but maybe more important to educate community members on how to properly prepare for disasters.” GCHF is excited to join GCEM, Grayson County Health Department, and the Kentucky Department of Public Health in bringing the project to fruition. Sims said he anticipates the mobile disaster unit will be ready for use in October 2025.
