GCHF Awards Grant to GCA for Facility Expansion

The Grayson County Healthcare Foundation (GCHF) is pleased to announce that it has awarded a $25,000 grant to the Grayson County Alliance (GCA) for the expansion of the facility. The GCA offers several programs to assist Grayson County residents in addressing food insecurity including food pantry services, a backpack program within the school system, a senior voucher program, and various educational programs.

The GCA has continued to increase the number of individuals it serves since it opened in 2001, resulting in a need for additional space. The project to expand the facility has been underway since April 2022. The scope of the project includes installing heating and cooling units, establishing a kitchen area with classroom space, expanding the resource area, adding two restrooms, updating technology, upgrading security, adding a dedicated waiting area and additional storage space. “The GCHF is excited to support expansion of our county’s only food pantry, which will allow an increase in capacity, as well as expansion of programming,” said Brittany Clemons, Executive Director of the GCHF. “This project aligns well with our mission and we are eager to see the impact it has on health and wellness within our community.”
